I’m worried that my HDD is failing. 

RAM and CPU usage are usually around 25%, but my HDD keeps spiking from 8% to 100% randomly, which is causing software to freeze and crash. I don’t know if there is a fix for this or how concerned I should be, but I’m making a backup of my important files on an unused disk just in case. 

The hard drive is a 2 TB Seagate; I’ve had it for about a year but have not been taking proper care of it. 

Should I consider getting a new HDD?
